Loft Conversions & Planning permission

With effect from 1 October 2008, you don’t require planning permission to construct a Loft Conversion on your property subject to conditions.
Providing the loft is not larger than 40 cubic metres for terraced houses and 50 cubic metres for detached and semi-detached houses, you shouldn’t have any problems.
There are other conditions which are listed on Local government websites, but we think these are easier to conform with.

Driveways & Planning Permission

Did you know as from 1 October 2008 you may require planning permission to construct new driveways or parking areas over five square metres, this is to reduce the risk of flooding caused by water run off. The only exemption from planning control is if they are constructed using surfaces that allow the water to soak through to the ground. If you choose to use traditional impermeable surfaces you will require planning permission.
